Yoga, ceremony, live music, and creative workshops. Real rest. Real people. In nature, together.
"The best things happen when people are actually in the same place, not just on each other's feeds."
Kumbaya Collective started with a simple belief: people need to gather. Not just scroll past each other online — actually be in the same space, moving and breathing and making things together.
Doug and Kai lead retreats, workshops, and ceremonies. Always outdoors when they can, always with music, always with something to make or do with your hands. Every one is different, but they all end the same way: people not wanting to leave.
Get in TouchEvery Kumbaya experience has the same bones: good people, open land, and something real to do together.
Morning flows, breathwork, movement sessions that meet you where you are. Years of practice or none at all — you'll be fine. We move together and nobody's watching.
We open most gatherings with cacao. It's warm, grounding, and does something to the room. Walls come down a little. It's become one of our favorite parts.
Music moves with the day. Something soft for morning practice, something that builds as the night gets going. Dancing under the stars has become a tradition.
Tie dye, pour painting, earring-making. Nobody is graded. Making something with your hands while laughing with people you just met is one of the best feelings there is.
Sound journeys, moon circles, breathwork. We hold space for the deeper stuff without being precious about it. You don't need experience with this to feel it work.
We pick locations on purpose. Water, mountains, coast. A few days in the land and something in your nervous system softens. That's not a coincidence.
Fall in the mountains is something else. The air changes, the leaves turn, and there is this natural exhale that happens when you get up there. Daily yoga, guided meditation, sound journeys, cacao ceremony, creative workshops, and a lot of time near water.
Meals, lodging, and all practices included.
Still nailing down details, but spots will go to people on the list before we announce anywhere else. If one of these sounds like yours, get on it.
Warm water, warm air, yoga outside, cacao in the morning, music at night. Everything we do, in one of the most beautiful places we can think of.
Back to the mountains as the world wakes up. Breathwork, movement, and a fresh start. Same lake, different season.
Morning yoga on the sand, cacao when the sun comes up, Doug on the decks when it goes down. Tie dye, pour painting, swimming, and probably a lot of laughing.
"Come by here. We mean it."
Kumbaya is a real word with roots in the Gullah Creole tradition of the American South, itself drawing from West African spiritual practice. It means, simply: come by here. Come as you are. That is still the invitation. We have seen what happens when people actually take it seriously. In mountain cabins, by the lake, at a fire on a cold night. Something shifts. The people in the room shift with it.
